Shinkigensha — Mythology, History & Fantasy
While working on the first Pokémon Trading Card Game product, Mitsuhiro Arita established a professional connection with the Japanese publisher Shinkigensha. The publisher specialized in books dealing with mythology, history, fantasy and related subjects used as reference material by artists, manga creators, authors and game developers. Arita subsequently produced a large number of illustrations for Shinkigensha publications. He later explained that this work also allowed him to build extensive knowledge of mythology, history and fantasy — subjects that would become recurrent throughout his later illustration career.
