In 2024, Mitsuhiro Arita significantly expanded the international and original-art dimensions of his career. The Event ART CARD project launched the previous year developed into an ongoing worldwide series, with new original artworks created for appearances in Hawaii, Germany, the United States, Japan and Malaysia. At the same time, Arita became increasingly active in the American comic-book industry, creating variant covers for major publishers and characters. Live drawing, original paintings, limited prints and convention-exclusive artworks became increasingly important alongside his established commercial illustration work.

Timeline Events

Arita continued and significantly expanded his Event ART CARD project throughout 2024.

Event ART CARD #04 was created in connection with Hawaii Pop Con 2024.

During Hawaii Pop Con, Arita produced a group of original artworks as part of his event activities.

Event ART CARD #05 continued the series during Arita's activities in Germany.

Arita continued performing live drawings and creating original works during his European appearances.

Event ART CARD #06 was associated with Arita's activities surrounding San Diego Comic-Con 2024.

The Event ART CARD project subsequently continued in Japan with #07.

Event ART CARD #08 was associated with Arita's appearance at TCGKL in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

By the end of 2024, the Event ART CARD project had developed from three releases in 2023 into an international chronological series accompanying Arita's travels and appearances.

Each new Event ART CARD provided Arita with an opportunity to develop imagery from his own original fantasy universe rather than an existing licensed property.

Arita's activity in American comic-book illustration also expanded significantly during this period.

He created variant-cover artwork for major American comic-book publications.

His comic-cover work brought his illustration style to characters and universes from Marvel and other major publishers.

Documented projects from this developing body of work include covers connected with Scarlet Witch, Ultimate Black Panther, Spider-Man and other American comic-book series.

These commissions established comic-book cover illustration as another substantial branch of Arita's professional career.

Arita continued combining commissioned commercial illustration with live drawing, traditional painting, limited prints and original artwork created specifically for international events.
